Accessibility
My Role:
Re-design the lengthy onboarding process, while adhearing to the WCAG guidelines.
Globally
Accessibility is often overlooked
Disabilities are Common
In the United States, up to 1 in 4 (27%) adults have some type of disability, including mobility, cognition, hearing, vision, and independent living impairments.
95.9% of the world's top one million web pages have accessibility errors, making digital content less accessible to those with disabilities.
User Needs
People who are blind and deaf need a way to book navigators and translators independently.
Grace loves her guide dog, Luna, but sometimes, she prefers a human navigator.
Insights
There is a strong desire for independence among users with disabilities.
Navigators and translators are helpful in certain situations, for example when going on vacation or a work event.
Problem Space
Current booking sites fail accessibility standards, leaving users with disabilities unable to book without help.
Insights
9/10 competitor websites investigated failed basic accessibility standards.
Any score less than 100 does not meet accessibility standards
Ideation
How can we design a platform that empowers users of all abilities to book services without relying on outside help?
